Frequently asked questions
These are the Frequently asked questions for our Professional,
Sharp shooter, Semi-professional and Amateur policies.
How do I determine the value of equipment I want to
insure?
This limit must be the total amount it
would cost to replace your equipment as new, in the unfortunate
event of a total loss. If you are VAT registered this element needs
to be deducted. If items you own have been superceded you need to
ensure your sums insured reflect the equivalent replacement items
in the market today.
Is my equipment covered abroad?
This depends on the cover selected by you
and specified in your policy schedule. Our standard cover is
UK and 45 days world-wide; you do not need to notify us when
you go abroad only if you exceed 45 days in any one policy year. If
worldwide cover is selected – travel cover is unlimited however a
maximum trip limit of 90 days in any one trip is applicable.
If you have any queries in respect of cover abroad please contact
us.
Do I need to provide you with a list of my equipment?
The policy does not warrant a full
inventory of your equipment, however following any loss we will
require proof of purchase, if you do not have original purchase
invoices for your equipment we would suggest an inventory.
Can I make changes to the policy at anytime during the policy
year?
You can amend or change your policy at
anytime - please note that additions in cover will warrant an
additional cost. Additional premiums are charged on a pro-rata
basis from the date of the amendment.
Is my equipment covered in the hold of an aircraft?
Yes - it is becoming more frequent that
airlines will not allow equipment to be carried as cabin baggage,
therefore full cover is extended to equipment within the hold of an
aircraft subject to the equipment being in a locked pellicase or
similar.
Is my equipment covered if I am distracted and it is
stolen?
Yes - the Towergate Camerasure policy
provides cover for "Open Theft" and this would include opportunist,
we do not require signs of forcible violent entry or exit for the
theft cover to be in force.
Under my previous insurance I made a claim, will this affect my
cover?
You need to notify us of any claims you
have made within the last five years. Previous claims are
considered on a isolated basis and applicable terms and conditions
are applied where necessary. Full details of previous claim (i.e
settled amount, settlement date and nature of claim) must be
advised at the time of application - failure to do so could
invalidate cover. You must disclose all material facts.
Do you only cover UK residents?
No - our suite of products extend to
include residents of the following:
- United Kingdom
- Northern Ireland
- Isle of Man
- Channel Islands
- Eire (Professional/Professional indemnity and Semi-professional
policies only)
(Please note that all sales for the Isle of Man, Channel Islands
& Eire will be on a Non-advised basis)
Are there any terms, conditions or security requirements for
equipment left in my vehicle?
Cover for equipment left in an unattended
vehicle is during the working day, we do not apply any specific
time limits apart from the Semi-professional and Amateur policy.
- Up to £5000 - No security requirement, equipment must be in a
locked vehicle and out of public secreted view

excesses are applicable please refer to individual summaries of
cover for further details.
Does my Public Liability cover extend to include the USA &
Canada?
Public Liability under the professional
policy extends to include USA & Canada but subject to UK
jurisdiction.
Photography is only my Part-time occupation, I have another
full time occupation, which policy is best for me?
Having photography as a secondary
occupation you would best suit our Semi-professional policy.
I do not derive any income from Photography/Videography can you
cover me?
Yes - we provide a bespoke Amateur policy
which covers those not using the equipment for business use and
making money from it.
What happens if I move abroad?
If you move permanently, we will no longer
be able to provide cover, as the policy is designed for
Photographers/Videographers and those within the multi media
industry living in the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Northern
Ireland and Eire. We must advise that in the event of a claim under
the policy and the policy cancelling mid term – the full annual
premium would be due and no return premium would be given in this
instance. If your main residence is abroad, you will need to
arrange insurance through a company in your country of residence.
If however you are simply working temporarily, whilst still living
in the UK, this is covered as standard.
Which Insurers do you use?

are underwritten by Aviva Insurance ltd.
